Sims_logo_190Ballito Company Offers Solution for Recycling of Electronic Waste.

An electronic waste recycling company based in Ballito has launched a community service to assist consumers who are concerned about the correct disposal of electronic goods.

Allan Werth, Country Manager of Sims Recycling Solutions Africa, says: “Although our main focus is on the corporate sector, we are aware that many consumers want to do the right thing when it comes to disposing of their unused electronic equipment. We are therefore offering a free community service and would like to encourage people to bring their unwanted IT equipment and cell phones to our factory in Ballito.”

To help raise awareness about the importance of recycling electronic waste properly and in an environmentally-friendly manner, Sims is hosting a stand at the Go 2 Natural Expo taking place at Giba Gorge from 18 – 20 June 2010. Visitors to the show are welcome to drop off old cell phones at the Sims stand.

“We are happy to collect people’s old cell phones for the duration of the Expo, and are hoping that this will help people to understand that it is neither safe nor legal to simply throw electronic waste out with their general garbage,” Werth says. “The Go 2 Natural Expo is the ideal platform for Sims to inform consumers about these issues.”
